GASTEC DETECTOR TUBES FOR MEASURING AIR QUALITY IN INDOOR ICE ARENAS
TAMPA, FL (December 5, 2011) - Nextteq LLC, a leader in the industrial hygiene and safety industries, offers Gastec Carbon Monoxide and Nitrogen Dioxide detector tubes that meet applicable regulatory standards for measuring air quality in indoor ice arenas.
Carbon Monoxide and Nitrogen Dioxide are released into the air from fuel-fired ice resurfacers. Levels of these two chemicals will increase during repetitive ice resurfacing due to poor ventilation and high temperature and humidity levels. Large amounts of Carbon Monoxide can cause suffocation in minutes. Nitrogen Dioxide is an irritant and can cause shortness of breath and lead to respiratory infections. Inhalation of these gases hospitalizes hundreds of people every year.
Gastec detector tube No. 1LA for Carbon Monoxide, with a measuring range of 8-1000 ppm, and Gastec detector tube No. 9L for Nitrogen Dioxide, with a measuring range of 0.5-125 ppm, are short term monitoring detector tubes that will measure applicable ceiling concentrations as designated by US EPA, OSHA, NIOSH, and where applicable specific state regulations exist for measuring ceiling concentrations for these two chemicals in indoor ice arenas.
For time-weighted average measurements of Carbon Monoxide, Gastec offers dosimeter tube No. 1DL with a measuring range of 0.4-400 ppm that can be used from 0.5 to 24 hours. It is ideal for measuring 1-hour air samples of Carbon Monoxide as specified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Rhode Island Health and Safety for air quality in ice arenas.
Extended time-wieghted average measurements of Carbon Monoxide can be taken with Gastec dosimeter tube No. 1D with a measuring range of 1-2000 ppm and can be used from 0.5 to 48 hours. Gastec tube No. 1D is the only Carbon Monoxide dosimeter tube that will meet the US EPA Outdoor Air Quality Standard (24-hour sampling period) and the NIOSH Recommended Exposure Limit (10-hour sampling period) for long term measurements of Carbon Monoxide with a single tube.
Gastec offers dosimeter tube No. 9DL for measuring Nitrogen Dioxide with a range of 0.01-3 ppm, and can be used from 1-24 hours. In addition, the Gastec Nitrogen Dioxide dosimeter tube No. 9D is the only dosimeter tube available that will meet both the Pennsylvania Department of Health Ice Arena Public Exposure Guidelines and the US EPA Ambient Outdoor Air Quality Standards for 1-hour time-weighted average measurements.
Gastec dosimeter tubes can be placed in an optional dosimeter tube holder and clipped onto clothing or fixed in a location for area monitoring over a period of time. Please note that measuring ranges for dosimeter tubes are limited based on desired sampling time. Please read Gastec instruction sheets supplied with each box of tubes prior to use.
Additional Gastec detector tubes are availabe for over 600 applications. Gastec quality is unsurpassed. Gastec was the first manufacturer to obtain all 21 detector tube certifications from the Safety Equipment Institute (SEI). Gastec has more SEI-certified detector tubes than any other manufacturer. To ensure the highest level of quality, Gastec products are manufactured in ISO-9001 certified facilities.
