Gastec Dosimeter Tubes For Monitoring Sulfur Dioxide In Post Harvest Grape Applications
TAMPA, FL – Nextteq LLC, a leader in the industrial hygiene and safety industries, offers the Gastec 5DH Sulfur Dioxide direct-read length-of-stain dosimeter tube as an inexpensive way to monitor airborne levels of sulfur dioxide. The wine industry utilizes sulfur dioxide as an antioxidant and preservative. The Gastec 5DH passive dosimeter tube is placed in the crates when sulfur dioxide is applied to the grapes. Measurements may be taken as soon as 1-hour after placement. With a measuring range of 10 to 600 ppm and sampling time between 1 to 5 hours, Gastec 5DH dosimeter tubes allow anyone to accurately take a TWA (time weighted average) measurement without prior expertise or extensive training.
To operate, just snap off the scored end of the dosimeter tube and place inside the grape crates to be monitored. For more secure placement, insert the tube into the optional Gastec dosimeter tube holder and clip the assembly to the area to be monitored. The gas or vapor to be measured permeates into the dosimeter tube and reacts to produce a visible length-of-stain indication proportionate to the amount of gas or vapor present. Wait until the end of the exposure period, and then read the value on the scale that corresponds to the end of the stain length. Dividing this reading by the total length of time that the tube was exposed (expressed in hours) provides an average concentration of the gas or vapor for the period sampled. Please note that measuring ranges for dosimeter tubes are limited based on desired sampling time.
For measuring other levels of sulfur dioxide, the Gastec 5D dosimeter tube can detect from 0.2 to 100 ppm of sulfur dioxide with a sampling time of 1 to 10 hours. This range encompasses the OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit of 5 ppm (8-hour time weighted average). Gastec Dosimeter Tubes are labeled with the application name and part number to provide easy selection and traceability. For guaranteed accuracy and reliability, Gastec calibration scales for dosimeter tubes are printed on each tube for each individual production lot. You avoid problems associated with accuracy or quality that are found with competitive systems that use a common calibration scale for different production lots.
Gastec Dosimeter Tubes are always ready to use and operate by direct diffusion exposure, so no cumbersome sampling pumps are needed. With no user calibration, extra equipment, laboratory analysis, lengthy calculations or extensive training required, Gastec Dosimeter Tubes reduce administrative and maintenance time and the possibility of user error.
Gastec quality is unsurpassed. To ensure the highest level of quality, Gastec products are manufactured in ISO-9001 certified facilities. Gastec Dosimeter Tubes are manufactured by the Gastec Corporation. Nextteq LLC is Gastec’s exclusive U.S. master wholesale distributor.
